Silver Trak Digital Sponsors IASA Conference (International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives) in Sydney

SYDNEY, 22 September 2008 – Digital media migration specialists Silver Trak Digital today announced details of their key sponsorship of this year’s International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) conference at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney.

IASA 2008 was hosted by the Australasian Sound Recordings Association (ASRA) and focuses on issues concerning the survival of sound and audiovisual archives being dependant on the exchange of ideas, shared standards, similar technological approaches and mutual support.

Silver Trak MD Ron Anderson said, “We were happy to sponsor such a prestigious event as we see great value in the IASA’s aims and goals. In early 2009 Silver Trak Digital will introduce an automated and scaleable DAMsmart! media migration solution for migrating audio assets, with similar cost-efficiencies to those we have proven for video. IASA was a excellent opportunity to introduce and discuss our audio migration solutions with an unrivalled group of audio archive custodians, many of whom will be our future clients.”

The conference explored the activities, achievements, interconnections and relationships between individuals and institutions active in the field of sound and audiovisual collections.

Anderson continued, “IASA 2008 was a great success having attracted speakers and delegates from Australia, the Pacific, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. There were some fascinating speakers including senior archival and collections staff from research, broadcast and national audiovisual archives and libraries and leading experts in technology, preservation, documentation and access. We are delighted to have been able to support the audio industry in this way and as a result, look forward to many close partnerships in the coming months.“

IASA and ASRA members represent expertise in radio, research, oral history, social history, audiovisual collections, musicology, linguistics, ethnography, ethnomusicology, folklore, recordings, records, music, sound art, preservation, collection description, cataloguing, metadata, archival management and the provision of access to collections of audiovisual materials.
