Silver Trak attends SEAPAVAA

20 - 25th August, 2007 Silver Trak Digital's Media Migration Manager Joe Kelly and Managing Director, Ron Anderson attended the 11th SEAPAVAA (South East Asia and Pacific Audio Visual Archives Association) Conference at Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

SEAPAVAA is the peak audio-visual archive Association for South East Asia and Pacific regions. Silver Trak was invited to be the sole sponsor for this year’s SEAPAVAA Conference, which provided a unique opportunity for Silver Trak to introduce its recent DAMsmart initiative and their exclusive partnership with SAMMA Systems (New York) for automated media migration technology and service providor options. SAMMA System’s founder Jim Lindner, a SEAPAVAA executive committee member, was also key workshop speaker on the subject of archives Digitisation.

Silver Trak’s Ron Anderson noted that whilst some countries, like the host Cambodia, still require much technical support from developed nations to achieve their digital migration needs, ther are opportunities for imminent partnerships and migration projects with significant organizations in several Asian member countries. The conference also provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen some important alliances between leading Australian and New Zealand film and video archives.

SEAPAVAA 2008 will be held in Manila, Phillipines and is likely to focus on the urgent digital preservation needs of some highly valuable historic Asian audio-visual archives.
